As of June 21st, Community Regional Credit Union voted in favor of officially merging with Choice One Community Federal Credit Union.

Members of each credit union will continue to be served by the same great staff that they have become accustomed to. Both organizations are committed to upholding the standards that each member base has come to enjoy in regards to service, safety, and security. This merger was executed with one main goal in mind, to provide a better banking experience for everyone.

The merged credit union will incorporate the best practices of both organizations to provide an optimized member experience through cutting-edge online banking technology, financial literacy resources, fraud and identity protection tools, as well as the competitive rates and flexible terms that our members have always enjoyed, and much more. Moving forward, the credit unions will do business as Choice One Community Federal Credit Union.

General FAQ

When will the merger be completed?

This merger will be effective as of July 1, 2022, at which time Community Regional Credit Union will be known as Community Regional Credit Union, a division of Choice One Community Credit Union for an interim period.

By September 30, 2022, all Community Regional accounts and members will be fully transitioned to Choice One, and Community Regional Credit Union will begin doing business as Choice One Community Credit Union.

Will access to Community Regional branch locations be restricted at any point during this conversion?

Yes, Community Regional branch locations will be closed from 1:00 PM on August 31st until 12:00 PM on September 1st.

Why are Choice One Community Credit Union and Community Regional Credit Union Merging?

This merger unites two premier area financial institutions with a shared purpose to provide a better banking experience for everyone! Both organizations are committed to upholding the standards that each member base has come to enjoy in regards to service, safety, and security.

What can Community Regional members expect during the transition?

Community Regional Credit Union members will continue to be served by the same great staff that they have become accustomed to.

Will I have to re-apply for membership?

No. Your membership will transition and continue through Choice One Community Credit Union. As a result, you will be able to automatically enjoy the additional products and services that become available as a result of this merger.

What will happen to staff members at Community Regional and Choice One?

Community Regional and Choice One Community Credit Union members will continue to be served by the same great staff that they have become accustomed to.

Each organization’s Board of Directors was passionate about ensuring that this merger was positive for all stakeholders. That includes members, staff, and the communities that we serve.

When will signage and branding start to change?

You will begin to see temporary signage reflecting Community Regional, a division of Choice One Community Credit Union, throughout the month of July. The complete signage and branding transition will be integrated by September 30, 2022.

When can I start using new Choice One branch locations?

You can begin using the new Choice One Community Credit Union branch locations at 12:00 PM on September 1st.

What will happen to the Community Regional branch locations?

The Community Regional branches located in Old Forge and Kingston will officially become Choice One branch locations as of July 1, 2022, although a complete rebrand may not be completed until September 30.

Will the hours of operation associated with Community Regional branch locations be changing?

As of now, Community Regional branch locations will be keeping the same hours of operation. Kingston and Old Forge will be open Monday thru Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The drive-thru at Kingston will be open on Saturday from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM.

Account Transition FAQ

Will my Community Regional checking and/or savings account numbers change?

Some Community Regional checking and savings account numbers will be changing. The following account structure has been established to incorporate existing Community Regional accounts into Choice One.

  • Account numbers consisting of 6 or more digits will remain the same.
  • Account numbers consisting of 5 digits will have a 4 added in front of the existing account number.
    • Example –  Old Number: 55555 New Number: 455555
  • Account numbers consisting of 4 digits will have a 40 added in front of the existing account number.
    • Example –  Old Number: 4444 New Number: 404444
  • Account numbers consisting of 3 digits will have a 400 added in front of the existing account number.
    • Example –  Old Number: 333 New Number: 400333

Will my Community Regional debit card stop working at any time during this conversion?

Community Regional debit cards will be in stand-in mode from 12:00 PM on August 31st until 12:00 PM on September 1st. During this timeframe, debit card purchases and withdrawals will be limited to $100. Please prepare in advance by accumulating extra cash if needed.

When will I receive my new Choice One debit card?

Distribution of new Choice One Community Credit Union debit cards will begin on September 1st. However, debit card distribution will be completed in batches. Not all members will receive their new Choice One debit cards at the same time. You will be able to use your current Community Regional debit card until you receive your new card from Choice One.

What are the new limits associated with my Choice One debit card?

Choice One Community Credit Union debit card limits are $600 at the ATM and $600 at point of sale, totaling $1200 max per day.

When will my Community Regional debit card stop working?

Your Community Regional Mastercard debit card will work until you receive and activate your new Choice One VISA debit card.

When should I start using my Choice One VISA debit card?

You should activate and begin using your Choice One VISA debit card upon receipt.

Will access to Community Regional ATMs be restricted at any point during the conversion?

ATMs at the Community Regional branch locations will be offline from 12:00 PM on August 30th until 12:00 PM on September 1st. Tap to locate surcharge-free ATMs within the MoneyPass network during this downtime.

Will I have a new routing number?

Yes, once you receive your new Choice One Community Credit Union account number, your new routing number will be 231386878.

Will I have to change my direct deposit information?

Yes, the direct deposit(s) that you currently have set up will need to be updated with your new Choice One Community Credit Union account and MICR number.

Will there be a date when I am no longer able to access my Community Regional accounts online?

Our goal is to have all current Community Regional members set up with their new Choice One Community Credit Union accounts by September 1, 2022. For a short period of time, you will still have access to your Community Regional account as well.

How do I order new Choice One Community Credit Union checks?

New checks will be distributed automatically with your new Choice One Community Credit Union account number. You will be able to use your Community Regional checks until you receive your new Choice One checks. In the future, when you do need to re-order Choice One checks, you can do so here.

Transaction History FAQ

Will my Community Regional Online Bill Pay transaction history be available post merger?

Community Regional Bill Pay will be discontinued on August 31. Please get any Bill Pay records that you’d like to keep before then. After August 31, you will no longer have access to these records.

Will I have access to my Community Regional eStatement history after the merger is complete?

Yes. eStatement history will be able to be accessed for an indefinite amount of time post-merger.

Digital & Mobile Banking FAQ

Will I need to re-enroll in Online Banking and eStatements with Choice One?

Yes, if you are currently enrolled in Online Banking and eStatements with Community Regional you will need to re-enroll with Choice One. Will I need to re-enroll in Bill Pay with Choice One?

Yes, if you are currently enrolled in Bill Pay at Community Regional you will need to re-enroll with Choice One. Click here to learn more about Online Bill Pay at Choice One Community Credit Union.

How do I enroll in Mobile Banking with Choice One?

If you have already enrolled in Virtual Branch Online Banking, simply download the Choice One mobile app in the App Store or Google Play and use the same login information you would to log in to Online Banking. If you have not enrolled in Online Banking, click here to learn more and enroll.

Will I have to re-establish my recurring transfers and payments that I currently have set up within Community Regional Online Banking?

We will do our best to re-establish any internal payment or transfer arrangements made with the credit union. External payments or transfers through home banking will have to be re-established within Choice One Online Banking.

How do I enroll in Mobile Deposit at Choice One?

Simply request access via the email feature within your new Choice One Online Banking account. Once approved, you’ll be able to submit checks by taking a picture of the front and back from almost anywhere. Log in to Virtual Branch now to request access. What Online & Mobile Banking features are available at Choice One?

Choice One Community Credit Union has an online Learning Lounge featuring video tutorials and click-thru demos to show new members how to use Virtual Branch Online Banking and the Choice One Mobile App as well as convenient features like Online Bill Pay, Mobile Deposit, Choice Alert, and more!

BARB Automated Response Phone System FAQ

Will I automatically be enrolled in the 24/7 BARB Automated Response Phone System?

Yes, you’ll be able to access BARB after 12:00 PM on September 1st by dialing 800-610-2788 and pressing 1 when prompted.

What information do I need to access BARB Automated Response Phone System?

You will need your new Choice One Community Credit Union account number and the last 4 digits of your social security number to access BARB.

Loan & Saving Rate FAQ

How will this merger affect my current loan and certificate rates?

All current loans and share certificates on the books at Community Regional Credit Union will be honored by Choice One Community Credit Union.
